Bead game
Russian author’s television program dedicated to world literature. Published on the channel "Culture" since 2012.
About the Beadwork Show:
Igor Volgin invites 4 heroes to the studio, including writers, philosophers, poets, actors or directors and other creative personalities. The participants discuss famous works of literature or sensational book novelties, considering not only their literary, but also social value. The participants are trying to find a new special meaning in each of the books.
The show is named after Hermann Hesse’s novel, The Bead Game, in the center of the story of which is a group of intellectuals.
In 2016, the program was awarded the TEFI National Television Award.
About the host of the Bead Game:
The program is hosted by writer, literary critic and historian Igor Volgin, professor at the Journalism Department of Moscow State University and founder of the Dostoevsky Foundation. Nominee of the Antibucker Prize and the State Prize of the Russian Federation. He is the author of several documentaries about Russian and Soviet writers and poets: Pushkin, Chaadaev, Nekrasov, Dostoevsky and Zabolotsky.
On the channel "Culture" Volgin also led the program "Context".
In 2019, Igor Volgin was awarded the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Prize in the Event category for the author’s talk show “Bead Game”.
